Payout Options
Zai supports multiple payout methods for sending funds to users on your platform.
You can disburse funds via real-time payments (NPP), domestic bank transfer (direct credit), or bill payment (BPAY), each described further below.
You should consider payment processing times and relevant fees when deciding which disbursement methods to offer your users.
Real-time payments (NPP)
Using NPP for Payouts to Australian bank accounts, funds reach the recipient's bank account in near real-time.
Zai provides notification of the success or failure of the payment via the disbursement webhook.
Creating bank accounts is performed using the bank accounts API. Bank account details cannot be updated. A new bank account must be created and linked to the user, in the event of incorrect details.
Important Considerations for International Payments
If using real-time payments (NPP) to process the final domestic pay-out of funds received from outside Australia:
- Your Zai account must be configured for “IFTI IPS payments”. Speak to your Salesperson or Account Manager if you will be processing these payments, or if unsure.
- Each relevant pay-out must be flagged accordingly using the Zai API.
- You must provide reporting to AUSTRAC on relevant pay-outs. Note that this is done outside of the Zai ecosystem, however is a compliance requirement for you.
Domestic bank account transfers (direct credit)
Users can receive funds to their Australian bank account.
Bank account disbursements are run in batches several times per day. It can take up to 3 business days for funds to be received at the destination bank account. Zai provides notification of the success or failure of the payment via the batch transactions webhook.
Creating bank accounts is performed using the bank accounts API. Bank account details cannot be updated. A new bank account must be created and linked to the user, in the event of incorrect details.
Bill Payment (BPAY) transfers
Users can send funds to a BPAY registered biller by paying to a BPAY account.
BPAY bill payments are processed in hourly batches. It can take up to 2 business days for funds to be received at the destination bank account. Zai provides notification of the success or failure of the payment via the batch transactions callback.
Creating BPAY Accounts is performed using the BPAY accounts API. BPAY account details cannot be updated. A new BPAY account must be created and linked to the user, in the event of incorrect details.
Zai’s flexible payout options are designed to support a wide range of payment scenarios. For guidance on configuring or optimising your setup, please contact your Solutions Consultant, Account Manager, or Salesperson.
